Contact tracing is to be discontinued. There are also changes in the entry to Austria.

From August, a different wind will be blowing when it comes to Corona: the quarantine rule, for example, will be abolished. But the new Corona rules also have implications for contact tracing. “A continuation of contact tracing is currently not planned,” a spokesman for Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) told ORF.

In the new regulation, which will come into force on Monday, there is only talk of infected persons. But no longer of contact persons.

Differences
In the federal states, people react differently to contact tracing decisions. As reported by the Salzburger Nachrichten, the state and the city have announced that contact tracing will be discontinued next week.

Vienna, on the other hand, is still taking a cautious approach. Only at the beginning of July does the city want to expand contact tracing further. For this purpose, 120 employees were sought. “In itself, it has been said that contact tracing should remain. I can now not answer how that works,” said Health City Council Peter Hacker (SPÖ) to ORF.

But there are also changes in the entry to Austria. The regulation on the Corona entry restrictions was revised Tuesday by amendment and came into force on August 1.

According to this, vaccination certificates of those under 18 years old will no longer have an expiration date. For adults, nothing changes in the amendment; full immunization validity continues to expire after 270 days.

In addition, the new vaccine Convidecia from the Chinese vaccine company CanSino Biologics will be added to the list of valid vaccinations. This is an adult vector vaccine that requires only one dose. After four to six months, an injection of a booster is recommended. Immunization is said to provide 58 percent protection against mild symptoms and 92 percent protection against severe disease, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) press release. The WHO granted emergency approval to the Chinese vaccine on May 19.

The current entry restrictions are for countries with high epidemiological risk. Currently, no country is on that list.
